It is said that BORZELY made the attack on SCHOTTER to revenge attentions paid by the latter to Mrs. BORZELY. BORZELY was arrested shortly after the attack by Policeman PFITSCH, of the Joseph avenue station, on a charge of assault in the second degree.

SCHOTTER was formerly a boarder at the BORZELY home in Buffalo, and is said to have become infatuated with Mrs. BORZELY. It appears that the woman resented his attention, and SCHOTTER was arrested and sentenced to the Erie county Penitentiary for fifty days.

The penitentiary sentence did not satisfy BORZELY, who on SCHOTTER'S release traced him to this city, went to his hotel early yesterday morning, entered his room and attacked him. SCHOTTER protected himself as well as he could from the knife thrusts with his hands and arms, while he called loudly for help, and other persons in the hotel rushed into his room and took the knife from BORZELY.

SCHOTTER was taken to the Homeopathic Hospital in the Hahnemann ambulance. The cuts inflicted in his face, hands and arms. He is not fatally injured.
