The many friends of Mr. WRENN will be pained to hear of his sudden death which
occurred at his residence in Charlotte on Friday morning. He was in good
health Monday and performed his accustomed duties, and in the evening, after
retiring, was taken with typhoid pneumonia, which was the cause of his death.
He was a native of Ireland, County Leitrim, and emigrated to this country in
1835 and resided in the town of Greece. He entered the employ of C.J. RYAN
and Co and afterward that of C. J. MILLS, as foreman in his nursery, which
position he filled with credit to himself and satisfaction to his employer for
17 years. He then removed to Charlotte, where he has since resided.
During his intercourse with his fellow citizens he endeared himself to all.
____ of trust and honor. He has been street superintendent for four years
and superintended the laying out of the grounds at the Hotel Ontario, which
during the past year was so much admired by the numerous visitors. Mr.
WRENN, although an American citizen, was never estranged from the land where he
was born but always was ready to contribute to the cause of Ireland and the
oppressed. He is universally mourned by all by all who knew him. He
lives a wife and four children, two sons and three daughters. The funeral
was held at the Holy Cross Church and was largely attended.
