FUNERAL OF MISS MOREY

A large concourse of the personal friends of the late Miss Frances L. MOREY assembled at the family residence, on South Clinton street, yesterday afternoon, to take a final glance at the lineaments they will never again behold, and listen to the impressive services preceding the consignment of the remains to the s_len_ tomb. Rev. Dr. SHAW conducted the services, and his remarks concerning the lamented young lady were couched in a tone of deep sincerity and fervor. An excellent quartette sang at intervals several appropriate selections of solemn music. The casket and its surroundings were of a character to indicate that sundered hearts had felt that too much could not be done to beautify and adorn all that was mortal of the loved and lost. The floral tributes of bereaved friends were numerous and elegant. When the sad ceremony was finished the remains were conveyed to their last resting place at Mount Hope, followed by a long procession of carriages filled with mourning friends of the deceased. The melancholy occasion will never be forgotten by any person who witnessed it.

HOME FOR THE FRIENDLESS

Let all the charitable and kind hearted go to the Home to-day. Go there for your late dinner or tea, which is dispensed as a hospitality by the managers. This feature of the Home donation marks it as a special pleasure and more like a private party than the donations of the other charitable institutions.
You will find on the right as you enter the front door a Summer Idyl, to welcome you from the cold November air outside. Birds, flowers and fair young girls ready with smiles to greet you and to offer you their sweet merchandise. Don't pass them by. Next, tables of articles useful and ornamental will tempt you. No better place to buy your Christmas gifts. A little further on and the articles made by the old ladies themselves will be before you. Don't pass by that table. Upon its proceeds they rely for some special comforts which the close economy forced upon us by the hard times will render it impossible for them to have otherwise. Then to the dining room. After which and after a general survey of all which greets you, call upon the ladies who never say no to a proffered gift. Ice cream, fruits and oysters will be promptly served until the close of the evening.
