REPUBLICAN COUNTY CONVENTION

A motion was made to proceed to an informal ballot for candidate for Treasurer.

D. G. SHUART offered an amendment that it is inexpedient at this time to nominate a candidate for reelection to the office of County Treasurer — a slap at Mr. BAKER

A number of motions were made to reconsider, lay on the table, &c, amid considerable excitement. They were all finally withdrawn, and the Convention proceeded to ballot for candidate for Treasurer, with the following results:
Jason BAKER .................72
Joseph COCHRANE .......1?
Harris CLEMENT ..........29
Geo. W. ALLEN ............ 9
A. W. DURFEE ..............1?
H. W. JONES ................. 2
The Convention proceeded to a formal ballot with the following result:
BAKER ..........................86
CLEMENT ....................42
COCHRANE .................19
DURFEE ....................... 9 (?)
ALLEN .......................... 4

An excess of 5 — Mr. BAKER having 10 over the required majority.
Mr. BOWEN moved to proceed to another (unreadable) Lost.
A motion to make Mr. BAKER'S nomination unanimous was carried, several voices voting "no."
