DEATH BY LIGHTNING - During a thunder shower, on Monday last, the house of Mr. Amos SPERRY, in Dover in this county,
was struck by lightning, and Mr. Thadeus P. ALGER and Mr. Silas FOOT, both of Rockport, who were in the house at
the time, were instantaneously killed. We understand several other persons were in the same room with them, at
the time of the shock, who escaped without serious injury. The electric fluid entered the top of the chimney, which
was somewhat shattered; and the roof of the house also sustained some damage. The deceased both left families.

A boy, who is apprentice to a bricklayer, had a miraculous escape on Saturday afternoon. He was employed in finishing
the chimney of a three story house on Race street, a little below Sixth, and in?autiously set his foot on a board
which tilted under him. He fell through the stairway, from the roof to the cellar, a distance of five stories.
He was bruised by every joist with which he came in contact; but as he touched them all successively, they broke
the force of the fall. Though he was severely bruised, none of his bones were broken; and he was able to sit up
on Sunday afternoon. - Phil Gaz.
