The Kalkaska Genealogical Society was founded in 1989. Objectives of the KGS are to gather and preserve Kalkaska County, Michigan history while promoting an interest in genealogy. Projects completed by the society include the publishing of all cemeteries in Kalkaska County and the publishing of Big Trout Black Gold in 2001. This is a history book of the early settlers of Kalkaska County. Future projects include the indexing of census records.
The membership year is from April 1 to March 31. Cost per year is $10.00, which includes a quarterly newsletter and free queries.
