Benson Cemetery
Cedar Mountain Road, Douglas County, Georgia


The following tombstone was copied by Joe Baggett in 1982.  The 
marker was found adjacent to the former Douglas County landfill on 
Cedar Mountain Road, inside of and to the right of the landfill 
entrance.

Elizabeth Benson, July 16, 1793 – 1833.

Note:  Elizabeth Kemp was the first wife of Reuben Benson, born May 
27, 1786, in Greenville District, SC.  Reuben Benson died June 16, 
1864, and is also buried here in the family cemetery a mile north of 
the old Winston railroad station about five miles northwest of 
Douglasville.  In 1931 his marker was located, reading:  Reuben 
Benson, Departed this life June 16, 1864, age 78 years, 19 days.
